Scales Developed and validated
General Developmental Screening Tools
- CDC Grading: A simple method used to identify early motor delays in infants by tracking milestones like social smiles, head holding, sitting, and standing. It uses a grading system (0 to V) to help clinicians objectively assess developmental progression.
- Trivandrum Developmental Screening Chart (TDSC: 0–6 years): A community-based tool consisting of 51 items designed to identify general developmental delays in early childhood.
- Neuro-Developmental Screening Tool (NDST): A standardized instrument for children aged 2–9 years used to detect those at risk for various neurodevelopmental disorders.
- 18 Point Screening Tool Kerala (PSTK-18): A tool specifically developed for the screening of developmental disabilities in infants aged 0–1 year.
Autism-Specific Tools
- Trivandrum Autism Behavioural Checklist (TABC): A screening tool for children aged 18–36 months designed for early detection of autism in clinical and community settings.
- Concern 9 – Red Flag sign Tool: A concise nine-item screening card for toddlers aged 12–18 months used to identify early behavioral markers of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Childhood Autism Tool–Trivandrum (CAT-T): A clinician-administered diagnostic measure for ASD in children aged 2–6 years, tailored for use in low- and middle-income settings.
- M-CHAT-R/F (Malayalam version): A translated and validated version of the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, used for screening children aged 18–30 months.
Language and Academic Readiness Tools
- Language Evaluation Scale Trivandrum (LEST): Available for two age groups (0–3 and 3–6 years), this tool identifies language delays and is highly effective in resource-limited settings.
- Nursery Evaluation Scale Trivandrum (NEST): A functional assessment for children aged 4–6 years that covers six developmental domains, including motor, cognitive, and social skills, to help teachers monitor progress.
- Prewriting skills Assessment Tool (PAT): A 26-item tool designed to assess the writing readiness of children aged 2–5 years before they enter school.
- Early Reading and Numeracy skills Assessment Tool: A tool currently being developed for children aged 3–6 years to evaluate emergent literacy and early math skills.

- Teen Screen Questionnaire–Mental Health (TSQ-M): A self-reported screening instrument for Indian adolescents to identify mental ill-health.
- Quality of Life in Autism Questionnaire (QoLA): A Malayalam translation of a tool used to assess the psychosocial challenges and quality of life for parents of children with ASD.
- Parental Grief Assessment Tool: A tool under development aimed at assessing grief and emotional distress specifically among Indian parents of children with ASD
